Bethany and Christopher’s Cool September Wedding at Delbury Hall

We can’t get enough of Bethany and Christopher’s perfectly unique early September wedding at The Barns at Delbury Hall. This cool couple filled their day with lots of personal touches and quirky entertainment, making it a wedding to remember. Our Shropshire barn wedding venue was the perfect setting for their rustic-chic big day.  Photography by The Kensington Photographer.

Getting Ready at Delbury Hall

Bethany made the most of Delbury Hall’s on-site accommodation and booked the Honeymoon suite in the newly renovated Stables to get ready on the morning of her wedding. The luxurious suite provided plenty of space for Bethany and her bridesmaids to relax, have their hair styled, make-up applied and get dressed, knowing the wedding venue was just steps away.

At The Barns at Delbury Hall you’re welcome to make the most of our 10 stylish rooms in The Stables. Or, if you’re after a bit more space,  you can book The Garden Cottage – a pretty country cottage, on-site, which sleeps 6.

The Idyllic Church Ceremony

Bethany and Christopher had their heart set on a church wedding, and it was an honour to hold their ceremony in the idyllic and historic St Peter’s Church, located at the end of the Delbury Hall garden. St Peter’s is the quintessential English country church – dating back as early as 1010, it’s an incredibly beautiful and romantic setting.

If you’re looking for an atmospheric and beautiful Shropshire church for your wedding ceremony, St Peter’s is hard to beat. Step inside the welcoming church, which can seat up to 220 people, and you’re immersed in a real sense of history, from the antique wooden pews to the spectacular stained-glass windows. Bethany and Christopher exchanged their vows in front of friends and family in a joy-filled ceremony, before heading out into the September sunshine.

After the ceremony, our bride and groom enjoyed a gentle ride from the church to Delbury Hall in a charming horse and carriage. Pulling up outside Delbury Hall’s grand stately home, to join their guests for a sunny alfresco drinks reception, it was a stylish way to really kick off the celebrations.

The Rustic Reception Styling

Our bride and groom worked a stylish, rustic-luxe theme throughout their day. Delbury Hall’s Coach House Barn – complete with exposed brickwork and antique rafters – provided a picturesque backdrop for the wedding breakfast.

Tables were dressed with beautiful dried grass arrangements on wood slices, while table and place names featured delicate leaf prints, tapping into the botanical style. An oversized trailing white floral arrangement brought focus to the top table, while our 18th-century Coach House chandeliers were decorated with matching white flowers.

We love the couples’ on-trend naked cake, complete with wooden ‘Mr & Mrs Wood’ topper and dried grass decoration.

Bethany’s Classic Bridal Style

Bethany channelled a timeless bridal style for her beautiful Shropshire barn wedding. With layers of embellished tulle, a simple square neckline and pretty lace appliqué, Bethany’s wedding dress nailed the romantic English country wedding vibe. Paired with a beautiful half-up hairstyle, low veil and a stunning bouquet in white, cream and dusky pink, the overall look was classic and effortlessly elegant.

The Quirky Wedding Day Touches

We love a September wedding at Delbury Hall, and the last of the late-summer sun really came out for our bride and groom. Bethany, Christopher and their guests were able to make the most of the fabulous weather with a sunny alfresco drinks reception and garden games in Delbury Hall’s picture-perfect Shropshire countryside setting.

The evening reception was filled with the coolest personal touches that really showed off Bethany and Christopher’s couple style. When it comes to crowd-pleasers, it doesn’t get much better than a pie and mash food truck. Our awesome bride and groom booked The Pie-oneers to feed their evening guests, from the most incredible converted vintage MK2 transit, and it’s fair to say it was a massive hit.

As well as treating their guests to delicious pie and mash, Bethany and Christopher set up a photo booth station, complete with an impressive array of props. It was such a great way to create a fun party atmosphere, as well as capturing some hilarious wedding day photos!
